Canine Safe Harbor would like to introduce "May`s Most Beautiful" Hope & Emma. As the saying goes, "April Showers, Bring May Flowers, " our 2 picks for May are a reminder of just how similar these 2 Beauties are to a flower. Hope, a Shepherd mix, came to us in need of some TLC. It was obvious she had no prior training of any kind in the area of manners, including greeting people & walking on leash. Hope is 1 yr. old and just beginning to mature. Like a flower she is blossoming into a beautiful young lady with a very confident personality. We are so proud of Hope and the progress she has made. She will sit politely when asked and walking her is a joy. When its time to go for a walk in the woods Hope makes a stop at the toy box to pick one of her stuffed friends to go along. It is clear that Hope is also drawn to water, since one of her favorite things to do is jump up and catch the water coming from a hose. She may seem almost shy at times but when it comes time to romp & play Hope has no problem finding the energy. Emma is a 1 1/2 yr. old Labrador Retriever mix who`s eyes will melt your heart. Emma has an unassuming personality and is "Gentle as a Lamb" which puts her at the top of the list for a dog that is Great with Kids! Last winter while being walked, Emma`s volunteer walker slipped on some ice. Although the volunteer never let go of Emma`s leash, falling down can create a situation some dogs might take advantage of. Not Emma! When she realized her walker had fallen instead of trying to get free to run Emma went to the volunteer and in her own way along with lots of kisses Emma asked "Are you ok?"
